The New Angel - Ali Alizadeh Alizadeh writes compellingly. The beginning of his novel resonates with kind of trivial post-University melancholy of writers like John Birmingham and Andrew Gahan but you're swiftly aware that this middle class post-University layabout isn't that tedious kind of guy. It was beautiful and awful and the end made me as glad as it was terrible. I'll be thinking about this one for a while and want to track down some of the author's poetry.
