Right now, 19 June 2009, I don't know what to say about this book. I choose this to read weeks ago, before the Iranian election. Satrapi is engaging and the book is one I will think about for a long time. It is blunt and subtle, biffing you over the head with one fact and slipping an idea in alongside it. It is funny without being dismissive and tragic without being hopeless.
